On Tuesday 6th February 2024, Brandsmiths+ hosted a gathering of in-house legal experts from prominent UK brands in the heart of London for an event to refine negotiation skills. Presented by The Gap Partnership, "An Introduction to Tactical Negotiation" workshop provided attendees with invaluable insights and strategies to excel in the art of negotiation.

The event was a blend between the interactive workshop, Q&As with expert negotiators, and networking opportunities tailored specifically for legal professionals in the sport, media, fashion, and entertainment sectors.

The evening commenced with a welcome address from John Shaw, an Associate at Brandsmiths.  Attendees were then invited to join The Gap Partnership’s session, designed to deepen their understanding of negotiation and equip them with practical techniques to navigate complex deal-making scenarios.

Participants explored a range of effective communication strategies, discovered how to identify and leverage sources of power, and gained advice on overcoming common negotiation pitfalls.

Towards the end of the workshop, through role-playing exercises and case studies drawn from real-world scenarios, attendees gained hands-on experience in applying negotiation tactics to achieve favourable outcomes for their brands.

Guests also had the opportunity to create valuable connections with other in-house lawyers from leading brands across various industries. The event fostered a collaborative environment where professionals could share best practices and cultivate lasting relationships within the legal community.



We gained invaluable feedback from participants who highlighted how beneficial they found the eventing, and their appreciation for the skills learnt to elevate their negotiation techniques. Each attendee also received a curated goodie bag courtesy of Brandsmiths, packed with essential resources and tokens of appreciation.
