Job title:              Commercial NQ
Location:             London
Contract:             Full time, Permanent
Days/Hours:       Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5:30pm

General Overview

Working within a growing commercial team for a range of interesting, high profile and/or fast growth clients, including working with large clients that have an ongoing need to outsource regular non-contentious work.
You will be able to work within a team as well as independently on matters, leading and supervising trainees and paralegals if required. You will be a key player in a fast-growing area of the Brandsmiths business.
As well as an interesting workload, you will be encouraged to develop business and to help in the growth of the team and the firm as a whole. You should be adept at talking to other departments, and their clients, discussing their commercial needs and helping originate work.
We work closely with a number of in-house teams. You should be able to process instructions quickly and deliver work on time and on budget.

Main duties and responsibilities
Take on a key role in growing our commercial team. You will be encouraged to work across the business on commercial matters. You will work autonomously and make the role your own by getting involved in marketing, client meetings and high-quality work from the start.

You must have top-class legal, technical and soft skills. You will be expected to work proactively on matters, with appropriate supervision, and so should be able to demonstrate experience in the drafting and negotiation of contracts.
It would be beneficial for you to have particular experience in contracts with intellectual property and data protection aspects, for example IP licensing, talent management, sporting, and franchising agreements. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to identify relevant intellectual property rights, and ways in which businesses are able to protect, exploit and enforce them.
You need to easily build relationships internally and externally. You will be expected to supervise and mentor non-qualified lawyers to assist in their development.

You should be goal orientated, driven, comfortable dealing directly with clients and welcome opportunities to develop business. You will be encouraged to grow your network and, with the assistance of others in the Firm, eventually build a client base of your own. Cross-office working with our Manchester office is always encouraged.
