We are looking for an IP Solicitor to join our growing team.
We are looking for a mid-level solicitor with a particular interest in intellectual property and commercial legal work to join our team. This role has a bias towards non-contentious work, and will involve working within a growing non-contentious team for a range of interesting, high profile and/or fast growth clients.
The role will suit someone who is able to work within a team, independently on mid-level matters, leading and supervising junior members of the team as required. The role may suit an individual currently working within a larger non-contentious team who has a desire to establish themselves as a key player in a fast-growing area of the Brandsmiths business.
As well as an interesting workload, you will be encouraged to develop business and to help in the growth of the team and the firm as a whole.
Brandsmiths is a boutique law firm with offices in Manchester and London providing specialist legal advice to IP rich businesses and individuals.
Our clients include established brands such as BMW, Microsoft, Umbro, Trivago, Speedo, Lacoste, Entertainment One, Bremont, Cinch, Black and Decker, Supreme and Beverly Hills Polo Club, as well as fast growth businesses like Pure Gym, Missguided, Vinted and LadBible. We are looking for a solicitor to take a key role in growing our non-contentious IP and commercial team. You will be encouraged to work across the business on mostly non-contentious matters. We encourage autonomy and there is room to make the role your own by getting involved in marketing, client meetings and high-quality work from the start. You will progress based on merit, with a clear path to promotion for the right candidate.
You must have top class legal, technical and soft skills. You will be expected to work proactively on non-contentious matters, with appropriate supervision, and so should be able to demonstrate experience in the drafting and negotiation of contracts. You will also need to supervise more junior members of the team. You will have particular experience in contracts with intellectual property and data protection aspects, for example IP licensing, software, franchising, and data processing agreements. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to identify relevant intellectual property rights, and ways in which businesses are able to protect, exploit and enforce them.
Personality is important at Brandsmiths. You need to easily build relationships internally and externally. You will be supervised by senior lawyers but will also be expected to supervise and mentor non-qualified lawyers to assist in their development.
You should be goal orientated, driven, comfortable dealing directly with clients and welcome opportunities to develop business. You will be encouraged to grow your network and, with the assistance of others in the Firm, build a client base of your own. Travel to our London office may occasionally be required, and cross-office working is always encouraged.
