Brandsmiths are excited to announce the appointment of Aaron Wood as their latest trade mark attorney.
Aaron is the winner of the 2021 MIP Impact Case of the Year Award, which he won as advocate in the Lenovo v Comptroller of Patents case; a case which reset the UK Intellectual Property Office’s approach to excluded matter, particularly for computer games.
Speaking on their latest appointment, Brandsmiths’ founding partner, Adam Morallee said “It’s great for Brandsmiths that Aaron has joined the trade mark team, as we continue to push to become the destination firm for IP rich businesses. In addition to his excellent day-to-day practice, he is also a great advocate, regularly topping the appearances table at the IPO. Our clients want us to offer them more services in IP and Aaron’s hire allows us to do this, in-house, in a cost effective way."
Having also been listed in WTR 1000 multiple times, Wood boasts a wealth of experience which he has gained from his 20+ years in the industry. Having acted for notable brands and personalities such as Superdry, Kim Kardashian and Bacardi, Aaron is confident in advising businesses on the development of their IP assets, a skill for which Brandsmiths has an outstanding reputation.
Testament to his work, Aaron has a number of awards to his name. He was shortlisted for IP Practitioner of the Year 2021 by Managing IP Magazine and was also listed by CITMA as the trade mark attorney who has appeared most in the UKIPO in dispute hearings within the last 5 years.
Speaking on his new role, Wood says “It’s a truly great time to be joining Brandsmiths. I have been aware of their work for quite some time; it is truly outstanding and something I am very much looking forward to being part of”.
